Peter, a.k.a Enigma,

I dont really know what to say or write.
Just think its a damn shame that things like this happens.

Its always a tragedy when a guy like Peter is taken away from his family and friends.
He always had a smile on his face, and spred his positive attitude among us.

I had the pleasure to meet him in person at the LAN in Lule, and he was just as nice and fun IRL,
as we have known from the online side of him.

NannyOgg introduced him to RoX way back in the days, and we didnt have to think twice to let him in.
And when it comes to the game-side, he always wanted a clean and fair fight.
If someone deserved some kind of honour medal in the LMCTF community, it should have been him.
The same goes for the IRL part. Atleast the side of Peter that i got to know.

He was also the guy that kept RoX together after we had decided to go inactive,
and he was the guy that brought us back to the scene again.

Well, i hope you find peace, and meet some nice rapand's on the map you're at now.
You will be remebered.

Sincerly

Just returned from the funeral... a very sad but beautiful funeral.

A lot of people attended and Peter's father as well as Peter's ex-girlfriend's father gave some very personal - with a bit of humor - speeches about Peter and their lives with him.

R.E.M.'s "Everybody hurts" was played in the church while the family carried the coffin out. Whine, that was tough!
I think that everybody in the church felt tears coming on hard.

Bye Peter, take care wherever you are!

GG,

Some people say there is a purpose on everything that happens, but I can't see a purpose on what has happened here !

This is how I knew Peter:

Around 2 years ago I met Peter via the Internet, and we quickly got along.
He joined the q2lmctf-clan I was playing in - RoX - and as both he and I was Danish, we also talked a lot besides the "gamingworld".
I first met him in person in Copenhagen, where we both should participate in a computer meeting (LAN).
He picked me up at a friends place in Copenhagen, and the whole weekend we had pretty much fun playing a lot computer games.
My car broke that weekend, and he and I spent almost the entire Sunday on moving it around Copenhagen.
He pulled my car with his car - my guess is - 100 km.
Even though it was a "boring" situation, we had kinda fun.
After that I met him several times, again at LAN in Copenhagen, and as the first time, we got along very well, and had tons of fun.

2 months ago he suddenly called me. He had a job pretty close to where I live, and we quickly agreed on having a cup of coffee together at my place.
He helped me, getting my computer fixed, and we talked about everything - like friends do.
Then a month ago, he and his girlfriend broke up, and he called me, and asked if we should have some beers together.
It all ended up with he and a friend of his visited me, and we had such a fun evening at my place, and after that also "downtown".

I can't remember when I last had such a good time, and before he and his friend headed home the day after, we agreed doing this again soon over at his place.

Somehow we planned on getting better friends - not only "netfriends", but also real life-friends..... And now this :(

As you can read above Peter helped me with different things, and never asked for anything return.

Peter, you will be missed, and I hope you have great fun, as we had, wherever you are.

GG my friend and CU !

The 16th. of April 2001 at 20:00 CET the Scandinavian Quake2 LMCTF community (and probably other gamers) joined a Quake2 LMCTF server - thanks Herqulez! - to pay their last respects to Peter and say farewell. About 60 people attended and held 1 minute of silence in the church on LMCTF11 "The Enchanted Kingdom" followed by a game on LMCTF10 "Toxin Refinery" - one of Peter's favorites (demos and screenshots below). As best as I could I tried to give a speech in the church on LMCTF11 to pay my last respects to Peter. I repeated parts of Peter's father's speech at the funeral as well as adding a few comments of my own (slightly edited):

"The 6th. of April we sadly lost Enigma[RoX] a.k.a. Peter Larsen.
He was happy that evening chatting with his father over dinner.
Planning to get a new apartment and saying he liked his job.
All in all a happy Peter - as always.
Later that night he went for a drive, like he often did the last months.
Somewhere along the road he was probably overtaken by another car.
Being the racer he was and not wanting to be overtaken he sped up.
The >game< was on...
At some point the road turns right and then left.
Peter wanted to cut the right turn tight to maintain speed.
He cut it too close and lost control...
The car swerved across the road, flew over a ditch and crashed into a tree.
My guess is he died instantly.
He died doing one of the things he loved: racing in a fast car.
I bet you all he was smiling all the way.
I doubt he would regret what he did if he had the chance.
Although he would probably not have cut that corner that close.
His funeral was very sad but beautiful.
A lot of personal memories were told by his father and
ex-father-in-law.
They played Dido's Here With Me
...
When they carried out the coffin they played:
R.E.M. Everybody Hurts
- and THAT hurt! :(
Bye Peter - thx for all the fun! GG wherever you are!
NannyOgg - off -"

I didn't really realize how much I will miss Peter until I was at the funeral. It hit me very hard.

Peter, I sure hope you have fun wherever you are now - still smiling and
occasionally pissing people off just as we knew you here! Miss you...

To Enigma's close friends...

I wish for you...

Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes,
Rainbows to follow the clouds,
Laughter to kiss your lips,
Sunsets to warm your heart,
Gentle hugs when spirits sag,
Friendships to brighten your being,
Beauty for your eyes to see,
Confidence for when you doubt,
Faith so that you can believe,
Courage to know yourself,
Patience to accept the truth,
And love to complete your life...
